Charlie Daniels Band

Charlie Daniel's Band"Few individuals have symbolized the South in popular culture as directly and indelibly as Charlie Daniels." Encyclopedia of Southern Culture

Charlie Daniels is partly Western and partly Southern. His signature "bullrider" hat and belt buckle, his lifestyle on the Twin Pines Ranch (a boyhood dream come true), his love of horses, cowboy lore and the heroes of championship rodeo, Western movies, and Louis L'Amour novels, identify him as a Westerner. The son of a lumberjack and a Southerner by birth, his music - rock, country, bluegrass, blues, gospel - is quintessentially Southern. In fact, even his bent for all things Western is Southern, because his attire, his lifestyle and his interests are historically emblematic of Southern working class solidarity with the "lone cowboy" individualism of the American West. It hasn't been so much a style of music, but more the values consistently reflected in several styles that has connected Charlie Daniels with millions of fans. For decades, he has steadfastly refused to label his music as anything other than "CDB music," music that is now sung around the fire at 4-H Club and scout camps, helped elect an American President, and been popularized on a variety of radio formats.

38 Special

38 SpecialAfter more than three decades together, 38 SPECIAL continue to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year. And at each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band's performance.

Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, "Hold On Loosely," "Rockin' Into the Night," "Caught Up in You," "Fantasy Girl," "If I'd Been the One," "Back Where You Belong," "Chain Lightnin'," "Second Chance," and more – Timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

The co-founders of the group, vocalist DONNIE VAN ZANT and guitarist/vocalist DON BARNES, say it's all about maintaining that intensity in their live shows. Barnes says, "We never wanted to be one of those bands that had maybe gotten a little soft or complacent over the years. We're a team, and it's always been kind of an unspoken rule that we don't slack up, we stack up. We go out there every night to win."

It is that steely determination that lives on in the hearts of these 'Wild-Eyed Southern Boys.'

Grand Funk Railroad

Grand Funk RailroadOriginating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top selling American rock group of the 70's is "COMIN' TO YOUR TOWN TO HELP YOU PARTY IT DOWN". Grand Funk Railroad is extremely excited to be touring in 2010 marking a 41 year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band's tours from 1996 to 2009, Grand Funk's 2010 Tour will continue to reach both new and long-time fans.

Known as "The American Band", the high-energy five-piece group will play forty shows all over the USA this year. Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, We're An American Band) and bassist Mel Schacher, "The God Of Thunder". Joining Don and Mel are true "All Stars". Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38's biggest hit "Second Chance" and was co-founder of California's legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as "the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet. Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and also has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master's degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called "Dr. Tim", his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk's legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape forty years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a testament to the group's influence and staying power. Mega-hits We're An American Band, I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home, Locomotion, and Some Kind Of Wonderful still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio. We're An American Band has received notoriety in recent years being used in movie sound tracks and in television/radio advertising. The huge hit was featured in a recent General Motors national TV ad campaign and in Disney's animated feature film The Country Bears. In 2004, We're An American Band was featured in the Cuba Gooding Jr. film RADIO, and in 2005 it was featured in the swashbuckler SAHARA starring Matthew McConaughey.

Jackyl

JackylIt's been nearly 20 years since Jackyl shot out of Georgia with its wild, untamed and uncouth approach to rock 'n' roll. Equal parts hard rock, heavy metal and Southern rock, Jackyl formed in 1991 and brought back rock 'n' roll back -- back to its down-to-earth, wild, fun-loving origins. Full of spit and swagger -- and a "dirty" sense of humor to boot -- Jackyl quickly earned a deal with Geffen Records. Jackyl's live shows were already legendary before the ink dried on the Geffen contract.

The 1992 self-titled debut album went platinum and featured notable rock radio hits like "Down On Me," "When Will It Rain," "I Stand Alone" and, most notably, "The Lumberjack," during which vocalist Jesse James Dupree performed a chain-saw solo. Dupree's chain-saw escapades on album and in concert became one of many Jackyl trademarks. With the release of 'Jackyl' hit the road and barely left it since. Just long enough to record new albums. Touring mates in those early days included Aerosmith, Kiss, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent and Damn Yankees. 1993 saw "Mental *@%.!" featured on 'The Beavis & Butt-head Experience,' a compilation album of songs tied in with MTV's hit cartoon series; it was eventually certified triple platinum. 1994 was one of the most important years in the band's career. The second album, 'Push Comes To Shove,' hit the streets and went gold. That August, Jackyl turned in one of the most acclaimed performances at Woodstock '94 in Saugerties, NY, and the resulting double album 'Woodstock 94' went platinum and included "Headed For Destruction" (a track from 'Push Comes To Shove'). The live recording 'Night Of The Living Dead' was released exclusively in Europe on Mayhem Records in 1996.

Rowdy Johnson Band

Rowdy Johnson BandAre there any outlaws left in the world today? If you're a fan of the Rowdy Johnson Band, then you've heard these words before coming from the stage as Rowdy Johnson belts out the haunting lyrics of "Outlaws Today". And after experiencing an RJB performance, you'll know the answer to that question is a big "Hell Yeah!!!". Rowdy may have been born down South in the swamps of Florida , but it's on the stages of the Old West that this loud & proud Country singer is in his element. Following in the paths blazed by the Outlaw pioneers like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Jr. just to name a few is today's own Outlaw pioneer Rowdy Johnson. Armed with a passion for pushing the envelope of what's acceptable in today's music world and an endless supply of original songs that bleed right out of his soul, Rowdy and his band of outlaws are tearing up the stages on a mission to make things right again in this time of Pop Country Music. Rowdy and RJB have quickly become the "Voice of the People" when it comes to the Traditional Country fans, Southern Rockers, Bikers, Military Veterans and anyone else tired of the blah, blah, blah coming out of Nashville these days. You can call RJB a Revolution, but one thing is for sure, they're definitely carrying on. Here's to hoping the music never dies.
